Course Key Facts
Students successfully completing this one day training course will be entitled to act as a first aider in the workplace. This Emergency First Aid at Work training course may be most suitable for organisations requiring qualified first aiders in low-risk work environments. The course fully complies with the Health & Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 (Appendix 6 Content of an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Course).
Course Contents/Learner Outcomes
- Roles and responsibilities of a First Aider
- Assessing a first aid incident prior providing treatment
- Dealing with an unconscious casualty (including the recovery position and managing seizures)
- Resuscitating a casualty who isn't breathing normally (including CPR and safe use of defibrillators)
- Clearing the airway of a casualty who is choking
- Controlling bleeding and dealing with wounds
- Managing a casualty who is in Shock
- Dealing with minor injuries (including cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns/scalds and splinters)
Course Accreditation/Certification
Successful students will be awarded a CHT Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work certificate which will remain valid for three years (although the Health and Safety Executive do recommend annual refresher training for all first aiders). Accreditation and internal quality assurance are provided by Castle Hill training in accordance with the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Although it is not a HSE requirement, Ofqual certification can also be provided for an additional charge per student.

Course duration 7 hours including breaks.
You can have up to 12 students on a group booking.
Students are assessed by multiple choice test and completion of practical assessments.
The course requires students to be able to read and write English, if this going to be a barrier to learning please contact the training company well in advance of the course to discuss how support can be provided.
There is a practical element to the course and students must be physically fit enough to perform CPR on the ground and roll casualties into the recovery position.
Because of the practical work, it is recommended that students wear loose comfortable clothing (ideally trousers).
