Our IOSH Managing Safely training course for Waste Management and Recycling is focused to be relevant for managers who work in the diverse recycling sector ranging from motor vehicle dismantling to refuse collection. It is a wide-ranging sector but technical managers in waste management face common health and safety challenges.
By delivering this course in-house at your site we can further tailor the training to suit your organisation's needs. We can incorporate your health and safety policy, the risk assessments you use, your accident history and current accident investigation procedures into the training course.
Simply put waste management is a dangerous sector to work in; 39 fatalities in the last five years, around 5,000 accidents every year and some of the highest levels of work-related illness of any industry. You are far more likely to have an accident or be made ill by working in waste and recycling than in construction or manufacturing, with around 4% of workers being injured every year. However, evidence suggests that good health and safety management can reduce accident occurrence rates by up to 70%.

IOSH Managing Safely training puts Health and Safety into Waste Management and Recycling
IOSH Managing Safely gives your team a good understanding of the risk assessment process and practical cost-effective ways of controlling risks found in waste management. After the course, they will understand what their legal responsibilities are and how to reduce the chance of personal injury claims due to negligence. We look at the composition of health and safety management systems, how they can be audited and the best ways of measuring performance.
The three-day IOSH course will destroy some health and safety myths, as well as look in detail at major causes of accidents and illness in the recycling industry.

However, if it would work better for you to spread the training over four sessions or to organise the training in a three-day block this can also be arranged for no extra charge.
